Men who stopped carrying it alone
They talked about grief, divorce, burnout, and trauma, so they appear by initials only. Discretion is the promise this work makes.

Was carryingThe strain of leaving a family business and moving states
“My wife and I were in a hard place after leaving a family business and moving states. Whitney listened without minimizing what I felt, brought my wife into the conversations, and kept checking in afterward. I'm grateful for the perspective he gave when I needed it most.”
- I.A.
Was carryingThe loss of his mom
“I connected with Whitney over old cars, right after my mom passed and I was in a rough season. Over lunches and time at the gym, he showed me why men need to connect vulnerably instead of hiding their burnout and shame. He was a real guide through a tough stretch.”
- B.P.
Was carryingUnresolved trauma behind a great career
“On paper I had it all: a great career as an aerospace engineer and a solid marriage. But I was using my output to mask unresolved trauma. Whitney helped me stop just surviving. He understands the pressure high-achieving men are under, and he's the navigator you want in your corner.”
- C.W.
Was carryingA midlife crisis
“I first met Whitney in 1999 as a mentor on my mission in Argentina. More than 25 years later, I reconnected with him after reading Men Under Pressure and leaned on his counsel during my midlife crisis. He's shown up for me at every key moment and is a powerful voice for men's mental health.”
- J.M.
Was carryingUnemployment, a divorce, and his sister's cancer
“I found Whitney's book while newly unemployed and facing a divorce, a Master's program, and my sister's cancer all at once. He gave me a couple of simple things to work on, and I started the next day. Within weeks I felt more confident, got back to the gym, and landed a job that fits me. He helped me put my own health first so I could be a better father.”
When his story became the push
Not everyone Whitney reaches is a client. Sometimes hearing him tell the truth is what gets someone else to tell theirs.
“Hearing Whitney's story gave me permission to stop asking if I really needed more help.”

I didn't think anyone at Whitney's level of success could be struggling the way I was. Then I heard his story. Here was someone who had built an incredible career and looked like he had it all together, and he was honest about the anxiety, depression, and PTSD he'd been carrying behind the scenes. Even more, he was honest about what it took to get better, including going to inpatient treatment. He didn't talk about it like a failure. He talked about it like the turning point it was.
That stuck with me. I had been fighting for my mental health for years, doing hundreds of therapy sessions and trying everything I could think of, and I was still struggling far more than anyone knew. Hearing Whitney's story gave me permission to stop asking if I really needed more help and start looking into intensive treatment.
I enrolled in an intensive outpatient program, and it changed my life. My depression scores went from the 20s to 80 in three weeks and have stayed there. I walk every day, I'm taking care of myself again, and for the first time in years, I can say I'm doing great and mean it.
Whitney says to tell someone. I did, and I got the help I needed. If you're carrying more than you let on, his story might be the push you need too. It was for me.
